Help to Buy - Wales

If you are struggling to buy a home in Wales, you may be able to get financial support through a variety of home ownership initiatives.  Our overarching priority is to increase the supply of housing in Wales. As part of this work, Help to Buy - Wales has been launched. This is a £170 million shared equity loan scheme designed to support home ownership, stimulate building activity and provide a welcome boost to the housing sector.

Help to Buy - Wales shared equity loans are now available to potential homebuyers and although due to end on 31st March 2016 may be extended.

Help to Buy - Wales equity loans are available on selected new build plots and developments up to a maximum property value of £300,000. The purchaser will need to arrange funding for not less than 80% of the purchase price. The Welsh Government will lend 20% of the value of the new build in the form of an interest free loan for 5 years. You will need to have a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage.
